HERMES OPENS NEW TRAINING SCHOOL IN BIRMINGHAM

Parcel delivery firm Hermes has further strengthened its presence in the Birmingham area by opening a new training school for its Field Managers, who are responsible for recruiting, training and managing the company’s network of self-employed couriers. Hermes will provide specialist training programmes at the dedicated school, which is based at its site in Erdington.

Hermes delivers parcels on behalf of 80% of the UK’s top retailers and etailers, including Next, ASOS, Debenhams and Arcadia Group, and employs around 242 Field Managers across the country. The company’s HR Director Jill Maples and Head of Delivery and Ops Development Carl Lyon opened the School at a special ceremony this week.

Carl said: “The Birmingham Depot plays a vital role in our parcel network, handling millions of packages a year, therefore it seemed like the perfect location for our new training school. It is the first of its type and it will provide our specialist teams with access to the very best learning and development resources going forward. This will allow them to further support our network of 10,500 self-employed couriers, and improving the overall delivery experience.”
