SWC, the specialist window cleaning business within Incentive FM Group, invited delegates at the recent Facilities Show to put their window cleaning skills to the test in order to ‘Beat The Shiner.’ The competition was a speed challenge against Terry “Turbo” Burrows, the Guinness World Record Holder who claims to be ‘The World’s Fastest Window Cleaner’.
The competition, which was held over three days, challenged participants to clean three windows faster than Terry’s world record of 9.02 seconds. Participants included delegates at the Facilities Show, Incentive FM Group’s Chairman Jeremy Waud, Group MD Martin Reed and a number of the SWC team, including Gareth Thomas, who set up the company in 2010 before it was acquired by Incentive FM Group at the start of the year. Gareth only just missed out on the top spot with a time of 9.82 seconds, a mere 0.8 of a second behind Terry’s record. Feeling it was an unfair advantage for a window cleaner to win, the fastest non-skilled cleaner was Nick Moore who completed the challenge in a very respectable 12.87 seconds.
Commenting on the competition, Jeremy Waud said: “Despite some questionable cleaning techniques we were glad to see delegates take on this competition with vigour and enthusiasm. It encouraged friendly competition amongst staff and visitors at the show. Luckily Terry’s record remains intact however our team definitely gave him a run for his money.”
